I am a clinician educator who has served in a variety of leadership roles in the field of sleep medicine.  I have been involved in developing  certification for sleep medicine, initially serving on the American Board of Sleep Medicine as a member and president and then, as a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties first examination committee for sleep medicine certification.  I have served as a board member for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and its president (2011-2012).  In addition to my role as promoting sleep medicine as a field, I have pursued a variety of clinical research projects, mostly investigating various aspects of sleep disordered breathing, either diagnosing it or its prevalence in unique patient populations.  I am currently the Director of the Emory Sleep Center which was established as a interdisciplinary center in the Comprehensive Neurosciences Center in 2010.
